IPOB Leader’s Detention: Kanu Is Igbo, That Makes It Worse Because Nigeria’s DNA Hates Igbo For Attempting To Secede -Sowore

In a recent interview with Arise News, a Human Rights activist and former Presidential candidate of African Action Congress,AAC, Omoyele Sowore has shed light on the growing disillusionment among Nigerians, claiming that many have mentally checked out of the country.
Sowore, who is also the founder of the African Action Congress, attributes this sentiment to the nation’s long-standing history of marginalization, particularly against the Igbo people.
The notable Activist specifically drew attention to the case of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra,IPOB, who is currently facing trial for his alleged attempt to secede from Nigeria. Sowore argued that Kanu’s Igbo heritage has made him a target of the country’s deep-rooted biases.
According to him, “He (Nnamdi Kanu) being Igbo makes it worse because Nigeria’s DNA hates the Igbo for attempting in the ’60s towards the end of the ’70s to leave a country they said is no longer favourable to their existence.”
The Activist’s comments highlight the lingering wounds of Nigeria’s past, particularly the Nigerian Civil War, also known as the Biafran War, which lasted from 1967 to 1970.
The conflict, sparked by the secession of the Eastern Region as the Republic of Biafra, resulted in the loss of countless lives and left an indelible mark on the nation’s psyche.
He emphasized that this mass exodus is a clear indication of the country’s failure to address its internal issues, stating, “I keep saying it and I will repeat it here again. Is there any Nigerian out there who has not mentally seceded from Nigeria? not many. That’s why People are leaving the Country.”
